Can I fill with temps reaching 15 below F at night?

So I haven't been able to fill yet this season due to life, extreme low temperatures and wind.  I'm getting tired of this and I see that tonight the wind will die down so that perhaps my liner won't…Continue

The temperatures are looking good for a fill here in Maine. My question is, Christmas Eve looks good to feel however we are supposed to get 6+ inches of snow on Christmas. After this the weather is…Continue

Looking to see if anybody has any advice on how to avoid this next season. During a midwinter thaw, I noticed my ice level decreasing an inch or two per day only to find that I had a tear in the…Continue

Can I fill with temps reaching 15 below F at night?

So I haven't been able to fill yet this season due to life, extreme low temperatures and wind.  I'm getting tired of this and I see that tonight the wind will die down so that perhaps my liner won't go flying away like a large sail. Problem is the temperatures will be so damn cold that I am afraid as I fill my 35 x 64' rink, the top surface will freeze and set and then the water will push from underneath and cause havoc,  possibly tearing up my liner in the process.  Anybody have any…See More

Can I fill during a snow storm?

The temperatures are looking good for a fill here in Maine. My question is, Christmas Eve looks good to feel however we are supposed to get 6+ inches of snow on Christmas. After this the weather is real cold for the foreseeable future. I'm concerned that if I don't fill on  Christmas Eve, I will miss my opportunity. But what happens if I get all the snow 24 hours after I fill?   Any suggestions? Oh, and do I need to remove all the snow in between my boards before I lay down the liner or can I…See More

Snow then ice and now rain covering my ice!

So after this latest storm in Maine, I am left with about 2 inches of snow layered on top with a sheet of ice and now being hit with rain. I am not sure of the snowblower will have a fighting chance in removing this mess. The weather looks to be highs around 40 and lows in the 20s for the next four or five days. Any suggestions on how I can get my ice back? If I can remove it by the weekend it looks like we have good weather for ice after that. Thank you for any advice.

Two tiered ice post snowstorm and slush

Would anybody have any suggestions on how I might get my ice back to level? We're going to get temps close to 40 F tomorrow before a nice cold front returns. Should I try to flood? Leave it be and see if I can clear the rest tomorrow once the sun has a chance? I do not have hot water access, btw. Thanks for any help!
