"You second issue has to do with the water not freezing fast due to too much water add in the snow and it not getting cold enough, add in any leak and you get an air pocket I just break thru to the water or air pocket and add in snow, wet…"

"Ever throw an ice cube in a glass then add a drink to it ........ when you pour enormous amounts of water onto the ice you will have this happen. Cracking is natural.  You should only be applying thin layers of hot water with a rink rake type…"

Legal Issues

I hate to bring this up but has anyone run into any legal issues such liability is someone get injured while skating on your rink.  Is there anything that a home owners policy maybe able to cover?  My wife is afraid that we will be sued if someone is injured.  Please let me know if anyone has had to deal with this.

"I learned last year, my shallow end was only 3 inches of water and my deep end was 10 inches. The shallow end would crack and that area had to be off limits to prevent more cracking. This year, i increased the size of the rink and made sure my…"

"Usually the cracking sound in a shallow end means that you have an air pocket below the ice. Does the ice seem unstable? I had the same trouble with the shallow end of my rink. I ended up having to remove a corner of my ice and found a hole in my…"

Crack sounds in the ice

I have built my first rink this year and I am having a little trouble.  I hear the ice cracking every time I step on the ice in the shallow end.  I have flooded the ice several times in an effort to gain some thickness in the shallow end but still having trouble with the cracking even though it has not come up to the surface.  What would be causing this problem?

Ice problems

Thanks for your advise.  I still have two trouble spots with the liner being exposed due to ground pushing it through.  Can I flood on top of the ice to try to cover the trouble spots?
