Chris Price (GuitarNut) Hot Water

Anyone experimented with heating up cold water to resurface with?  I tried hooking up to my hot water heater and resurfacing that way, but by the time water goes through 150' of hose (laying in the snow) it's cooled way down.  I was thinking of using propane heat, a coil of copper tubing (3/8 or 1/2") and heating up the water as it leaves the tank that's mounted on my four wheeler. Just some crazy ideas......

Scott "Moose" Mattson Rink liners and repair

I just want to pass on a bit of info for anyone that uses a liner when building a rink.

This year I'm using 50' x 100' silage film bought used last spring. Needless to say there are more tears and holes then I remember seeing last spring. Yes, I should have patched all the holes during warm weather but you guessed it...I didn't. For the last week (on and off) I've been struggling to get it patched and flood my rink.

I tried everything from White 3M duct tape to Dap Rubber… Continue

C-mac Building a base ?

Hello,

Been doing lots of reading, always looking for ways to improve the previous years' rink.  This will be my 3rd rink, 24x40.  Used a basic white tarp the first year (8x8 woven seams) which worked great.  last year I payed twice as much for a silage tarp (black on one side, white the other) b/c it was supposed to last several years.  Not so.  it has tons of tiny pinholes in it which I know will be an issue later.  What do most of you use for tarp/liner ???

Secondly,…

Matt Purtill Bad luck? Nope!

I went in to the local hockey shop last week to get some equipment for my son. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the server which handled all credit and debit card transactions. I took the equipment with me and went back the next night to pay for it. As I got there, the workers were dismantling a section they had that had a shooting section to try out sticks. I asked the owner what he was going to do with the regulation steel goal that they had. He said, "I'll sell it to you for $40."…

nick ricci Food coloring

I use food coloring to make my blue lines and yellow border as well as red lines, just mix it with water, it's simple and freeze's fast.

Chris Price (GuitarNut) My First Rink

Well, excavation started a few days ago on my rink.  40 tree stumps and 3 hours of bobcat work later,  I now have a nice level spot tucked into my woods.  Haven't got the contractors bill yet....really don't want to.  Pic's coming soon.

Tom Willis Spring

Spring has sprung and the ice is melting away.  Only a few inches left in the deep end. I wonder if I'll be able to dig out the post holes for the boards this weekend?
