  • Thx Tim for the offer re: banner design :)

Funny how both our wife's made mention of us being obsessed w/our rinks...ya think that being married to a canuck they would understand the passion :)

  • Hey Mark, Thanks for the kudos... I built my boards with plywood and a 2x4 frame. Topped it off with decking boards for the top painted red. Then I printed a 25' banner 24" tall and used painted strips of wood to hold it vertically. I found most of the logos on the internet and redrew the ones that were not clean. I am a graphic designer by trade and have access to a large format banner printer. I havn't tacked the top up yet so thats why it looks saggy. Going to finish it off this weekend. I started thinking about how I would design my backyard rink about  a year ago. My kids and friends just love it. My wife thinks I'm a little obsessed with it but it's something I've wanted since I was a little kid. Now my kids can enjoy for years to come. If you ever want to add something like this to your rink I would be happy to design it for you, send you the file then you can take it to a banner company to have it printed on outdoor banner material. I would just need a list of logos that you would want to include. I'll even do it for free for a fellow backyard rink enthusiest. :)
  • Tim,

Your boards look amazing...is that plywood or somesort of netting material...it looks like a ribble wave going thru the Team Canada logo and the USA Hockey...you have to spill the beans what you used, and where those logos came from (stickers...stencils you printed off?) Simply put your boards are professionally designed :)
