Having a backyard hockey "rink" is a bunch of fun. Building and maintaining one is time consuming but in the end, worth it. This is our 9th year doing it and...
Tom Not too sure what will work but I plan on just getting what I can off and out of the ice and adding more water on a cold night. Treat like a pond....skate on it when it's ready.

Tom Yup....after our 70 degree weather today and my swim in our hockey pool, I will effort a cleaning of the sticks and leaves
Our rink is almost gone. Down to the plastic and I've taken most of the boards down. Skated during the Sweden vs Finland game but now we are near the end.
Just got our 2nd place award from mybackyardicerink.com. Our rink is melting incredibly fast. We've had five days of 50-60 degree weather with high winds. We will wait until next season to use it for pucks but will probably put it up for soccer very…

Ernie Partridge was a good friend and neighbor who was a master with an excavator. He's the guy who cleared and leveled the spot where I build our rink. He passed away in December of 2012, about two weeks before I got the first rink built, so he never got to see the result of his work. We named our new backyard after him.
