  • Exactly what I needed Magnus, thank you!

  • Chris,

To (hopefully) answer your question, I think you are talking about my water spreader bar riding about 3/4 inch above the ice?   Nothing terribly fancy, I just screwed a couple of stainless eyelets into the bottom of it to hold the rest of the bar above the ice as I resurface.

The two eyelets are in contact with the ice, but keep the perforated PVC tube elevated so it doesn't collect snow/ice shavings and push a big pile of slush ahead of it.   Also another reason I use hot water, as most of snow/shavings that I drive over gets melted by the hot water before it has a chance to collect at the front edge of the spreader towel, which is in contact with the ice, obviously.

Couple of pictures below.   Hopefully that is what you meant, if not let me know.

  • Reid,

I cannot take credit for the design, check out this site, I used his design as a template.

  • Great job! I'll be looking at this as a template for my plans for next year.
  • Be happy to.  Might take a day or two to get at it as it's buried in the back of the shed behind my nets and assorted other rink stuff, but will be able to get at it by this weekend in my mad dash to get the boards up in time for this Friday.  :-)

Jealous of your expansion possibilities, would love to be able to eek out a few more feet of width as I know exactly what you mean about the turning radius of your 4-wheeler.  On slick nights, my tractor occasionally needs me to hop off and "push" the nose around lest it skid into the dashers in the corners.

  • Thanks Magnus, sure did, 8 foot wider and 24 foot longer and probably should have gone another 8 foot wider!  The biggest challenge last year was the homeboni and trying to make a turn on the ice with the 4 wheeler, did NOT work well.  Speaking of homeboni, would you be able to take a photo of the way you redesigned yours so that the back part just hovers above the ice instead of having to have it go up and down?

  • Looks great Chris!   Did you expand from last year?
