"Hey Magnus, we just went through a repeat of the New Year's slushfest. Rather than shovel and scrape and rinse and repeat, I am leaving it. Just came in and you know what? It isn't awful. It's gritty and where I roof raked its a bit wavy, but I…"
"Not sure exactly what we got. The rain before messed with any snow to make a mess. Furthermore, the weight actually broke what little ice there was forcing the unfrozen water up exacerbating the slush problem. I spent about 8 hrs during the cold…"
"My sympathies -- I can relate. Moved from NH to Upstate and finally settling in Traverse City, MI. Moving decisions went like the draft. Lots of war room discussion as to what was truly sentimental (smile). Not sure if I have enough surface to…"
I got off lucky this week, Joe. Three 45+ days while I was out of town early in the week, but quickly refroze with a couple of nights in the teens Weds and Thurs. Only a light dusting this morning from some passing flurries and ice is in good shape for the weekend. Avoided the slush entirely this time around. Sounds like you fared a bit better this time as well, about time we caught a break this winter!
Hey Joe, I think I lucked out. Nearly all of the slush froze the first night (one of our rare low-teen nights this winter) and I was able to get things back in skating condition within a day or two. Granted, I spent nearly all of New Year's day working on the rink, but could've been much worse. Just had a couple of nearly perfect skating days, but looks like we're back in the 40's for the next three. Hopefully will cool down again for the weekend. Sounds like you guys got hit with more of that wet snow that we did, so hopefully the short cold snap helped you out as well.
